Working

This character is called "Cougar Banger" and quoting from the author,  my rendering of him is "BADASS".  He used all caps.  I'm guessing he really liked it.

This is going out to...

...on of the three Wazzocks in the UK that present a TV show.  (Once it's done of course)  Guess who?  Also I'll be sending it to a certain New Yorker as well.

The picture says...

...well, it doesn't say anything because it's a picture.  I wanted to put my face out on the interwebz and here I am!  Wait, is that a trench-coat and gloves in a Texas summer?   Yes it is!  I needed a bucket and many towels to deal with the sweat.  Not to mention the small lake I needed later to re-hydrate myself after I was done with the shoot.  Why a trench-coat and gloves, you might ask?  Simple answer is that I like them.  This is only one of the many reasons why winter is by far in a way  my favorite season.  The cold forces me (and the rest of the world) to "Improvise.  Adapt.  Overcome."  as Mr. Eastwood would say.

Working with MATAS

So my thanks goes out Matthew and the Arrogant Sea for letting me help on their upcoming Album Cover.

After much hard work, tinkering, and negotiation we're getting closer and closer to a final product that ya'll will be jamming out to soon.  In the meantime for those of you in Dallas, please come see MATAS and myself at Dallas' Prophet Bar on July 3rd.  MATAS will be rocking the house.  I'll be selling some prints inspired by the album cover.  Roofs shall be blown, faces will melt and good times will be had by all.  See you there!

Laying the groundwork

So since I've already established the look of the comic that I'm going for, I've been laying the groundwork for the rest of the comic. These early steps are by far the easiest.  More to come.  Rest assured.

A new tool for a new drawing.

I've been making my own Tortillon's since middle school and I'm quite proud of this one.  It's going to go to work.  I'll make sure it pulls its weight.

Recroping

After having a conversation on Linkedin with fellow internet artists.  I wanted to recrop this to fix some composition issues and I think it's fixed.  However, the critique will tell...

Page 5 is DONE!!!

Now at least I know how the rest of the comic'll look.  Having a fantastic day of it and this stands as proof!

Coloring Page 5

So since I'm nearing the end of the pencil phase, I found a stopping point and decided to switch gears and give a go at coloring this soon-to-be beast.

I started with cropping the pencil drawing.
 Then desaturated it.
Then adjusted the levels.
 Now I've started the coloring.
Cool, aint it?

Page 6

Page 6 is certainly coming along.  Now, I lost my sleep can you help me find it?

Friday, June 13, 2014

This is why...

...page five needed to be redone.  I knew that I could do it much better.

2nd Draft

I had some scale and foreshortening issues with the first draft.  This needed to happen.  It more closely resembles the original sketch to boot.

What a difference...

...a day makes, huh?

Might need to redraw page five.  I'll keep you posted.

A page a day...

Another page, another day!
This comic, as you may have guessed, is being done in graphite on paper.  My plan is to keep trekking on until all twelve are completed and then colored in Photoshop.  I've got my work cut out for me here.
PENCILS HO!!!

Comical Progressional Updatery

So the comic is going at flank speed(ish)!
My work schedule is a bit random and my brain has been feeling a bit weird so my post'll vary in frequency but I'm hoping to have all the drawings done and coloring moving by this time next week.  As this is a bit of a complicated project with more than a few moving parts, perseverance will be key!

Onward to victory!

Doomsday Driving

Why is it that trucks, Toyota Camry's and the occasional Nissan GTR get all the treatment when the world ends?  Really expensive fast cars'll be rusting hulks too.

Working the mambo...

So the following is all preliminary work that I'm doing for a self promotional piece.  I'll be tracking the progress of my new "whittle" project up to a point.  I can't give everything away.  It'd loose its mystique but once this is done, it's going in the portfolio for sure.  This is a short story involving some characters that I've recently made, and a post-apocalyptic version Dallas, Texas (How could you tell? Hehe) and a super/hypercar used as a doomsday vehicle.
